Join us on this new tour offering, July – October, where you will enjoy five delicious tastings of locally and sustainably sourced food from Maine’s land and sea, along with three drink pairings showcasing Maine agricultural products.
Have an authentic and fun experience - see the working waterfront and watch fishermen unload their catch and visit a lobster buying station, walk the historic cobblestone streets of Portland’s Old Port, enjoy food and beverage from nationally-acclaimed chefs, and learn why Maine is a must-visit destination for quality food and beverage.
Tours run July – October, Tuesday - Saturday, 2:30pm – 5:00pm
Dietary Restrictions - due to the specific nature of the dishes, showcasing the Maine food system, we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions or food allergies on this specific tour. All dishes are either vegetarian or pescatarian friendly (three tastings include shellfish and one tasting has pine nuts). Our 11:00am Land, Sea to Fork Tour, is able to accommodate more dietary restrictions
We serve three alcoholic beverage tastings on this tour, with the ability to select “no alcohol” at time of booking
Tour takes place in rain, snow or shine. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking.

The tour is designed to showcase the Maine food and beverage system. We have carefully selected food and beverage tastings in partnership with our restaurants that reflect the uniqueness of our area and its food scene, and these selections often include seafood, wheat, and dairy products. We can accommodate vegetarian/pescatarian/no shellfish/no nuts diets at most of our stops. Please understand that we have limited tastings that meet other dietary restrictions.

A Toast to Maine Tour is a 2.5 hour educational culinary walking tour in Portland’s historic Old Port where the cuisine and beverage reveal distinctive stories of Maine’s unique food and beverage scene, and the opportunity to discover the connections to the people, the environment, and the economy along the way.
In small groups of no more than 14, participants will sample five delicious, locally sourced and seasonal dishes, from some of Portland’s nationally-acclaimed restaurants, paired with three drinks showcasing Maine agricultural products, all revealing why Maine is on the map as a must visit destination for quality, sustainable, and traceable food and beverage.
WHERE TO MEET
The meeting location is UNION Restaurant, 390 Congress Street. Please enter the restaurant at the Congress Street doors and your guide will meet you just inside the restaurant. If you are driving, there is a $3 an hour, or $16 a day, public parking lot nearby - Top of the Old Port Parking, 119 Pearl Street, Portland. Please note that this lot is cash only. There is another lot at 385 Congress Street that takes debit/credit cards. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure a prompt tour start at 11:00am.
